It has to be done. I hate football more than I hate my ranking of 'Mcfly fan'. Bring me the head of a Mcfly member, let me play football with that & then I think the game might grow on me! Twisted Evil

Possibly the most annoying game to play/watch ever....apart from cricket and bowls.

I go through stages with it.

i do enjoy it when you are somewhere like St James' watching it live.

but when you are just sitting in front of the tv - or even worse, on the radio it drives me nuts.

But what makes you so fanatical about it, Slasher? What - precisely - is it about 22 muscly men in shorts running up and down a field kicking a ball into nets that floats your boat?

As a game, it's average - more an endurance test by the end of the 90 mins than anything else. Tactics are minimal, rules are few, ManU will ALWAYS beat West Bromwich Albion, so no shock/suprise there...

What I can never understand is the fanaticism of literally millions of English people that want to just _watch_ this game, and perhaps kick a ball around once every 3 weeks.

It suprises me that any Rock/Metal fans actually like Football. It appears to be a grouping/sheep effect that leads so many to watch it so avidly, which as we all know is exactly why so many people like Pop music.

I'd just like to add that I've just had an email from a certain ticket agency that urged me "Don't miss Millwall Vs. Everton". Wow, I'm amazed at the marketing power there (or lack of).

Mattblack - I'd argue at the moment, WBA COULD beat Manchester United, they are no longer the team to beat...

I see your point though, sometimes a result can be predicted. But i would argue F1 during Scumachers best was similar, or Cricket during the Aussie reign. SAometimes a team/person can dominate for years.

Have to say though - I'm a football person. As for why, i don't know. I like the technique, i like the atmosphere (the positive side not hooliganism, you see.

As for me, im a 50/50 fan due to random parentage, Manchester United from my Dad's side, and Sunderland from my Mother's.

As for international matches, VIVA RASSEYA FEDERATSKAYA!

Yay for being different :p

Well....I was taken to my first Sunderland match when i was about 2...I got in for freee because i didnt need a seat i just sat on my dads knee... Ever since I was young, we have been totally utter shite... then in 95/96 we started doing well, won the Div 1 title and it was good times,...going to away games singing and stuff,...which kid wudnt enjoy it...6th jan 96 we drew man utd away in the FA Cup it was one of the best days of my life...we were getting beat 1-0 then beating them at Old Trafford 2-1 with 5 mins to go..they equalised...at Roker Park we were beating them 1-0 then got beat 2-1...but...its just the emotional ride it takes u on...once you're hooked from an early age kinda thing it sticks with you..you just hope the good times will come back to you and your club i guess

Now...I enjoy it because it gets me out for a pint with my old man and time to spend with him etc I guess im into football as I am metal n stuff...coz Ive had football since i was so young..whereas...I've always liked rock such as Sabbath and Thin Lizzy since a nipper but only got into Megadeth etc from age for 12 or something

I think if you followed a team every match home and away..you would find it pretty hard not to become 'addicted' and you'd have to be trying VERY hard not to enjoy it - eventually.

i dunno Razz it created a lot of banter as well amongst friends

I agree with the grouping/sheep thing u said...I kinda didnt have a choice at that age but im glad i didnt! its a bit like parents forcing catholic practice upon their children in a way - You don;t get to make the choice, your parents do it for you.

Well i am sure it is better than talking about nothing all night - i am not a huge all following fan - but it is important to Dave so i at least make myself aware.

As for the bit about catholic parents - not ALL of them are like that!!!!

it;s like saying all metallers are druggies. Simple fact is, they aren't. Wink
