I really hate the process of labelling : goth, metaller, chav etc

Yes there are people that live to be labelled, it make them feel like they belong somewhere, and if thats how you want to live your life cool, but some of us don't sit in a pigeon hole, and I get really annoyed when people try and force you into one!

It's true that I once was "Oh so goth" (lol, on a side note - Cath: I found those pics of when we first went to the Adge - why did you let me out like that??) and so had the label "goth"! But now, I have blonde hair, wear whatever I find first (after a long whinge that I have nothing to wear) wear vaguely normal make up, and can usually be found in flat shoes now, yet STILL, I get called a goth.

I was out somewhere yesterday with a group of people, where i basically stood out like a sore thumb, and they seemed to want to label me, because they couldn't quite figure out what I was. Then telling me I shouldn't be wearing false tan because I'm goth, I shouldn't sing a long to that chart hit, because I can ONLY like metal! Then telling me I look well MENTAL! It's like really, do you not go out much? I am far from extreme compared to some of my friends!

Ugh, anyway, I have now written a novel! I just had to get it off my chest - as each day I am getting far more stressed!

Oh my goodness

that is so my experience of it.

as for the adge photos!! You liked the way you looked at the time - and you were happy - so that is all that matters! It wasn't as if you looked shit lol!!!

The stereotypes - omg.

Before my wedding the number of people that thought i would be wearing black - because that is all a "Goth" would wear. "ooh i've never been to a goth wedding before" - what the hell did you think we were going to do, slaughter children and eat roast bat????
Personally i find that people that stereotype the most are the ones who are insecure, who stick to the "acceptable" mould of society because they don't have the balls to represent themselves individually.

Who on earth was it that you went out with that said that to you- surely they couldnt have been good friends!
I hate comments like that - people who quiz you and ask you why you like such and such as if it is something weird. I am all for people who show general enthusiasm if you talk about something in particular and are just interested in say the music you listen to or comment on pretty jewellery/ makeup etc - can't stand the patronising crap attitude.
When my hair was blood red i used to get tossers on the bus going oooh god why did you dye your hair red? i think after one drunken night i replied - why did god choose to put your dick on your forehead?

One time as i was getting off the bus i had some one say oooh god your hair is so red. I stopped like i was really shocked. i was like omg - is it really - no, it can't be - how did that happen - oh my god, i must be bleeding - oh no - oh god. and got off the bus. Everyone was laughing themselves silly at the twat who had asked me - he was sitting there redder than my hair Wink

As for music tastes - god i am atypical - i love rock and metal and goth from oldschool to nu school , A, z - some bands are fucking kick ass other bands i get slated for - heck ive had no end of people asking me why i love 54 - then again - they like fucking motor head with an utter passion - and i don't understand that - but - each to their own. If it makes you tingle - it must be good - and you shouldn't have to justify it.
me and himself like Robbie williams and actually own cds- shock horror!! a so called chart star - doesn't make us any less metal but people find it curious if they happen to see a cd in our collection that they know.
At work - and throughout most of my life i have played various hymns in the choir and still do, on most days. Not everyones choice, though these days they are a little less durgey than onwards christian soldiers, and Jerusalem etc etc - Why should it bloody matter.

On the other hand from the metal/ goth side - because i took piercings out so i could do the job i wanted - and because my hair isn't dyed black, ( man could you imagine a red head with red eyebrows and serious frecklage then dying their hair black. It just wouldnt work for me!)
and because i don't wear black nails day in day out anymore, some people have said i am a sell out. FFS. Dave had to cut his hair - people have said as much to him. He would have loved to have kept it long but it just couldnt work anymore. Hell he still rocks hard at gnr gigs, maiden gigs, and Queensryche gigs - doesn't make him any less metal because he cut his hair off. It also leaves me with an empty plughole, and less hoovering = happy mrs Wink

heck look at the likes of bruce, Phil anselmo, and no doubt countless other folk - they have short hair yet people still adore them. Infact - Kerry King - bald as a coot - can you imagine anyone telling him he wasn't metal!!

lol
looks like i went off on a big rant too Wink

lol.
anyway.

You know what...

be yourself, no matter what they say!!
oooh that IS a great saying Wink

You mean you didn't?! - I'm dissapointed!! Wink hehe!!

Well I am glad you get me - i just get sooooo angry! It's like when i dyed my hair blonde, people were like don't you like Manson anymore! It's like wtf?! Yes, my hair colour dictates what i like!!

I'm actually wearing that shirt today - because it's my kind of mood today!! Wearing the 54 with pride!!

Laughing
