Before I show you, I'd like to add a few words of my own - TERRY BEZER...Go fuck yourself, you washed up cunt-face.

If you like this album, and think the following review is bullshit, let them know.

Thanks!

Review :

It's never good to see a band that's tipped for greatness fall flat on their face (especially when they are a homegrown talent) but that is exactly what happened to AREA 54 after a wave of hype was followed by two very tepid albums. Can BOYD do anything to ressurect the bands career? In a word 'no' unfortunately, this is another collection of bone headed & bland riffs and forgettable vocal melodies that do little to make the blood rush or the head bang. In a world with so many great metal bands currently releasing colossal albums, AREA 54 are also-rans destined to take their place in the metal scrapyard.

Well I suppose everyone is entitled to their opinion but this seems extremely harsh. Particularly as the album is amazing, the vocal melodies are anything but forgettable and my head bangs and blood races everytime I listen to it.

Perhaps (as I believe Lakis' Myspazz bulletin said) he's spent too long banging his own head against the brick wall that is the music industry. Jealousy and frustration would certainly go some way towards explaining this bizarrely opinioned review!

Ignore him guys, he's one man and you all know that what you're doing is kick-ass!

What!!! Doesn't make sense, this is an amazing album and I can't get the melodies out of my head, they certainly aren't forgettable melodies. What do you expect from this so-called metal magazine, I stopped buying it a long time ago because it went right downhill. I certainly will be emailing them to tell them what I think of this review and I too think he couldn't have listened to it properly! If Area 54 were a huge band then this same reviewer would be singing their praises as they all seem to do even if they don't REALLY like the band, but because Area 54 aren't as big, they don't take the time to listen. Well fuck him, he's the one that should be on the scrapheap with this type of reviewing!!!!!!! Evil or Very Mad

One of the initial reasons i got into the 54s was because of vocal stuff.

And the vocal melodies particuarly on this album are stunning and never fail to give me a shiver - they make me turn the cd up loud and want to drive round with the window open.

Pah -- what a twat - this guy probably barely listend to the album- infact he probably isn't a guy - he is probably an talentless eunuch who couldnt do anything useful with his life so went to work for kerrap.

I thought the review was pretty harsh,If you just read through the words he wrote,i would have said it was a 1 K review tops! He obv didnt like the first two so fuck knows why he was given the 3rd to review,A friend of mine reckoned he didnt review the album,He just (Attempted) to bash Area54s career,
In the same issue he also reviewed Marduk,(Deth metal band) which he also gave 2 K`s but put a lot more positive comments in there review,
and they are both 2k albums eh?

Also the title of the review said... FORMER BRIT-METAL DARLINGS FALL SHORT AGAIN,

Recommended download, Because of you,

For fans of Shadows Fall and Avenged Sevenfold,

I can hear the Shadows Fall influence in My Hate,Did we not get past track one before mummy had to come change you nappy full of Shit reviews Terry Tosser? Rolling Eyes

If you look at his music likes, he even lists Shadows Fall AND Avenged Sevenfold, so he must be a fan, shame he can't take even his own advice LOL. Also in his music tastes are.. Fall out Boy, The 'fucking' Streets, and that tossbag from Big Brother's band, The Ordinary Boys. They're only known cos he was in BB, seems he likes to jump on band waggons.

Wouldn't like to be him anyway, although his profile states he is 23 years old, his photo looks far from that.. he needs more Oil of Olay..:p

If Kerrang's still doing their usual flavour of the month genre thing, he sounds perfect for them. Shame most of the world thinks they suck for it.

But hey, let's not get slag him off just because he's a shitty journo and really ugly. I'm sure he realises that anyway. And is probably inadequate in the trouser department too.

What an unfortunate review Sad

Kerrang is - god knows why - probably one of the most well known publications, even today long after they went crap (the general consensus appears to point to around 1991/92).

While us older, jaded, cynical sods don't give a shit what Kerrang thinks, the young and impressionable, and oh-so-valuable target audience of Kerrang almost certainly do. The proof is in their sales figures.

For an album that is obviously musically diverse, has some very obviously talented musicians playing multi-layered songs switching between heavy/bouncy riffs to technical/intricate sections, I cannot see how any one that has listened to it can possibly have written the review above.

Even if the reviewer didn't actually like the style or lyrics, or guitar solos and things, the points I just made are all still true. Even my sister, who doesn't like Rock at all, was still amazed at the display of musical competence and ability of the band.

The only possible reasons that review could have been written is that the reviewer didn't listen to more than 60 seconds of it, or that he has a personal problem with the band. And that shit should just not be allowed in a magazine of Kerrang's stature.

I, like kayleigh quit buying Kerrap years ago! Sometimes I have a lil look through but get to angry!

This album is as many have said just one guy's opinion! And at the end of the day, the people who actually bothered to buy the album adore it! And we are the people that matter!

I personally love this album more than any other album in my collection! It's helped me through some shitty stuff, and kept me going! Sometimes i have to stop when i am listening, just to take in the amazingness of it!

Bollocks to kerrang I say - it would appear nothing but idiots work there now that have no idea what music is about!

What a prick! He clearly hasn't got a clue. But like some of you have said, I bet he didn't even listen to it properly and he's one of those that just jumps on the bandwagon of what's considered cool at the time. Mad Mad Mad

At least Powerplay was more positive.
