I'm not into drummers that do too much these days. I think what Nick Menza did on 'Rust in Peace' is perfect, but I don't actually have a fav drummer, just cetain albums with great drumming.

I think best is a bit subjective, but my favourite is John Bonham for his groove and power, he was the engine that powered the Zeppelin Machine! I also like Vinnie Paul for his ability to play groove in a really heavy band and for daring to use a cowbell in metal! heh.

Lol, i forgot to answer the question, well I would look at things differently with drummers, and imo, talent in beating things fast and technical is all well and good, but the drummer that made the most impression on me during my musical life is Dave Grohl. yes, he was fantastic, he didn't have to do much, it wasn't fantastically clever, but kept a very catchy beat, and looked absolutley awesome behind the kit.

Any Lamb of God fans here? I love Chris Adler, mainly because he can play fast and technical but also makes very varied use of cymbals, and quite often there's a jazz-like feel to his groove. This is mainly on "Ashes of the Wake" which I think is their strongest album.

For black metal awesomeness, can't go wrong with Horgh from Immortal. Corpse paint will be cool one day!

For stage presence and for being in a kickass band, I'd also go for Dek Childs Twisted Evil
